Coalvi, the Consortium for the Protection of the Piedmontese Breed, is the first body in Italy to have developed a voluntary labeling specification developed exclusively for the Piedmontese Breed, approved by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies (IT007ET). Active since 1984, Coalvi, already a quality mark with Ministerial Decree of 1 March 1988, with 1,500 farms and 250 butchers, certifies every year 20,000 cattle whose meat arrives on the table not only with a guarantee of origin, but also with promises of high quality. In more recent times, Coalvi has been the proponent of two further certification systems, of which it has become the leader: SQN (National Quality System) “Fassone di Razza Piemontese” and IGP (Protected Origin Identification) “Vitelloni Piemontesi della Coscia” and for both it is authorized to accredit the entire supply chain with the respective guarantees on the meat.Coalvi also means culture, tradition, environment with villagers shaped by the presence of the Piedmontese race. Coalvis commitment is this: to enhance a product and a whole world intimately connected to it.
